VS Naipaul is hard to understand on certain occasions because of his religious ideas. It is certain fact he is a good writer but most of times during his writings he seems unable to apart his personal religious attitude by investing in his story characters. He never traveled to some counties that exist on the basis of Islam such as Pakistan, Iran etc, but his interviews and stories clearly suggest pre-planned prejudice attitude towards the religious thinking and life style against the people of such counties. A CONVERSATION WITH VS NAIPAUL EDITED BY FEROZA JUSSUWALLA is worthy to be read. In one of his interviews that has got its place in this very book, VS Naipaul declares that "he has nothing to do with the people of Trinidad". He finds refuge in his ancestors’ Indian culture despite the fact he was not born there. I would prefer to argue and write on VS Naipaul if someone is interested to carry such discussion because I have carried a series of researches on this very topic few years back. It will be great opportunity for me especially to get new ideas on this Old topic of Colonialism and the struggle of self identity in a hostile ethnically divided country.
